Introduction

English for UPSR  is written specially as preparation for pupils sitting for the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) English paper.

Analysis of UPSR English Examination Papers 2005 - 2012 is included in this blog.  These analysis are helps pupils to examine the subjects that have been tested.

Sample English examination questions are included. Suggested answers are provided for pupils and teacher's reference.

With all these features, this blog will help pupils achieve the best in the UPSR examination.


Latest EXAM FORMAT of UPSR
Paper 1
Paper 1 consists of 40 multiple-choice questions. Each question is followed by three or four options. There are five sections which give a total of 40 marks.

Section A (10 marks)
10 vocabulary questions or either word, phrase or sentence levels.

Section B (5 marks)
5 questions on social and language expressions.

Section C (10 marks)
10 questions on grammatical items

Section D (5 marks)
A passage with 5 blanks to be filled.

Section E (10 marks)
2 linear or non-linear passages with 5 comprehension questions each.

Paper 2
Paper 2 consists of three sections that test the writing skills. Notes and pictures are given to guide pupils in descriptive and narrative writing. Pupils are encouraged to expand on the notes given and give ideas that aren relevant.

Section A
Sentence Construction
o  a composite picture is given
o  10 words are given to guide pupils
o  write 5 sentences about the picture

Section B
Information Transfer
o  3 pictures with some information are given
o  transfer the information to a table
o  choose an item and give reasons for the choice

Section C
Note Expansion
o  3 or 4 pictures are given in sequence
o  notes are given for each picture
o  write a description about the pictures
